The Singdancing Company is a dream. Vanessa is seeking members for a new company. We already have nonprofit status. We will perform along the west coast and across the country. If you are interested in auditioning or in supporting the singdancing company in other ways, please contact Vanessa.

Once and Future Members of various incarnations of the Singdancing Company:

Vanessa Nowitzky is the innovator of singdancing. Ashland has been her home since 1984, apart from her time attending three arts colleges on the west coast: PCPA, Cornish, and CalArts, where she earned her BFA. She has hung from a rope singing for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, composed music that appeared on Icelandic radio, and created two musicals. She is the daughter of:

Aletha Nowitzky, lyric poet on a heaventriloquest for the sound of imaginarrative, sing like a bird! Dance like a snakey lick! Aletha: greek for Truth. Also known as MA CAPPELLA.

Melissa Miller is an eclectic mix of music, art, science, and the outdoors. Performing violinist, painter, engineer, mountain woman; they all seem equally applicable. For fun these days she's been stomping in the mud (cob workshop) and working out her vocal chords with singdancing.

Anna Christensen, lover of song and dance, has happily made her home in the Rogue Valley for the past 30 years. She can be heard singing elsewhere with the local 5-piece band/sometimes duo, Montana Soul, and free-form dances any chance she gets at the many available Ashland community dances. She holds a B.S. in Psychology from SOU and is a recent graduate of the Ashland Institute of Massage.

Priscilla Quinby is an actress who has had careers in the ballet and as a singer/composer. She's appeared on Broadway in "The Secret Garden" and "Meet Me in St. Louis", and was a member of Maurice Bejart's Ballet of the Twentieth Century. Here in the Rogue Valley she often performs with Rogue Music Theater and Camelot Theater.

Heather Hutton is a singer, violinist, songwriter, and public school music teacher. She performed a leading role in Dave Marston's opera, "Waters of Love", as part of the Rogue Opera schools tour. In addition to educating youth, Heather particularly enjoys co-creating performance art that is original and innovative.

Christine Williams has acted for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival several seasons. She gives classical vocal concerts around town and is creating a new opera based on the life of a woman composer from the Renaissance.

Jeannie Olson (not pictured) has just joined the singdancing company. She has taken years of dance and capoeira classes from Suzee Grilley, and is currently a college student.
